Yangzijiang Maritime is continuing to expand its fleet with a large LR2 tanker program in China. The company, listed in Singapore and led by Ren Yuanlin, has registered one of the most active investments in the tanker industry this year.
Tanker Order Details
According to shipbuilding database information, Yangzijiang Maritime has registered an order for six LR2 tankers with a capacity of 114,000 tons DWT at Haifeng Shipyard. Additionally, the company has an option for two more tankers. The delivery of these six tankers is scheduled for 2029 and 2030, while the optional tankers are planned for delivery in 2030 and 2031.

Expansion of Newbuilding Portfolio
This order comes as Yangzijiang Maritime has registered several large packages of tankers in recent months. In January, the company announced two LR2 tankers and two additional options, with their delivery scheduled between 2028 and 2029. In April, four more tankers with a capacity of 114,000 tons were added to this portfolio, which is part of a 10-ship package including four tankers and chemical carriers with a capacity of 49,800 tons and two 40,000-ton bulk carriers.
Haifeng has also accounted for a significant portion of Yangzijiang Maritime's MR program. In August, shipbuilding sources linked the company to four MR tankers with a capacity of 50,000 tons and two additional LR2 tankers, with the value of this package exceeding $320 million. These movements increase the company's registered tanker program to 14 vessels.
Alongside this expansion, Yangzijiang Maritime is looking to increase its investments through a combination of chartering, leasing, and selling ships before delivery. In disclosing information regarding the 114,000-ton tankers, the company specifically mentioned that the vessels could be sold before delivery if attractive opportunities arise.
The company has also entered the VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) sector and registered eight tankers with a capacity of 319,000 tons in April this year, with their delivery scheduled between 2028 and 2030. In September, four more tankers were added to this list.
