Worley, an engineering company based in Australia, has signed a new five-year contract with CNOOC International, a subsidiary of CNOOC China, to support offshore operations in the North Sea. This contract includes engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and decommissioning services.
Contract Details and Services Provided
The new Worley contract includes services in the Scott, Buzzard, and Golden Eagle oil fields in the North Sea region. Over the past twelve years, the company has completed more than 1,100 projects under its previous contract with CNOOC, which has helped maintain the integrity and performance of CNOOC's offshore assets.
Worley has stated that this proven track record, along with deep knowledge of the assets, enhances the company's ability to deliver efficient solutions and minimize operational disruptions. Safety is a particular focus in this collaboration, and the company has achieved over five million work hours without a lost-time incident.
Commitment to Sustainable Development in the North Sea
The new agreement between Worley and CNOOC International reflects Worley's long-term commitment to the North Sea region and the city of Aberdeen. This collaboration will also contribute to the ongoing development of the energy supply chain in the area. Graham Swan, Senior Vice President of Worley in the UK, emphasized the importance of this agreement and the strength of the long-term partnership with CNOOC, highlighting the ongoing performance of his team in the North Sea.
He stated that as offshore assets age, operators are looking for flexible delivery models that balance operational performance, asset integrity, and long-term value. Worley is well-positioned to provide these services.
Additionally, Worley has completed preliminary engineering designs (FEED) for two critical infrastructure packages in the development of Inpex's Abadi LNG project. This project is expected to contribute to Indonesia's energy security and support the country's carbon neutrality goals by 2060.
