The CEO of the Kurdistan Electricity Distribution Company has announced that currently 458 rooftop solar power plants with a total capacity of three megawatts are active in this province. These power plants have been established in three sectors: residential, administrative, and schools. However, at the same time, the interest of investors in these projects has been very low, and this issue could harm the future of these renewable energy initiatives.

While the government is seeking to develop renewable energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, the existing challenges in attracting investment in this area clearly indicate a lack of public and private enthusiasm for these new technologies. According to experts, one of the main reasons for this lack of attention is the absence of adequate infrastructure and also the lack of necessary support from government institutions.
Moreover, the high initial costs of installing and setting up solar units can also be other deterrent factors in attracting investors.
