The energy technology company SLB, based in the United States, has signed a 15-year agreement with the French energy giant TotalEnergies. The aim of this agreement is to develop digital well planning and engineering solutions (DrillPlan) for upstream projects globally.

Development of a Digital Planning Environment

This collaboration is set to connect subsurface insights with well planning and engineering, aiding TotalEnergies' transition to a digital planning environment. The proposed solutions are expected to enable TotalEnergies to enhance its well design and engineering processes.

Data Integration and Improved Decision-Making

By integrating data from adjacent wells, trajectory designs, pipeline inputs, and planning assumptions used throughout the well construction process, multidisciplinary teams will be able to work from a common base of data, designs, and assumptions. According to SLB, this environment is designed to connect workflows, integrate custom processes, and expand in operations.

Rakesh Jaggi, Head of Digital at SLB, stated: "Operators are increasingly looking for scalable technologies that can support planning decisions across large and diverse portfolios. This agreement represents a shift by customers towards digital solutions that enable improved stability, enhanced collaboration, and provide a foundation for future innovations in workflows."
