Capital Axis Maritime, as an investment in Greek dry shipping, is selling its new tanker named Arriktos for $90 million to Chinese buyers. This tanker, with a capacity of 181,250 tons and currently under construction at Hengli Shipyard in China, is scheduled for delivery in October 2027.
Details of the Arriktos Tanker Deal
The Arriktos tanker, which is currently under construction at Hengli Dalian Shipyard (Hengli Dalian Hl-B181k-25), has been offered to Chinese buyers at a proposed price of $90 million. This price is significantly higher than the $82.95 million value set by VesselsValue. Additionally, this tanker was previously sold for $74 million in January from Hengli Petrochemical to Capital Axis Maritime.

If this deal concludes at the announced price, it will represent a $16 million increase, equivalent to 22%, compared to the previous purchase price. This clearly indicates a significant rise in the value of modern shipping assets.
Shipping Market Analysis and Rising Values
The sale of the Arriktos tanker occurs at a time when the value of dry shipping assets has significantly increased. According to a report by Clarksons, second-hand ship prices have also risen by 5% in the past two months. For example, in January, Greek owner Seanergy Maritime contracted a sister tanker for $75.2 million, with delivery planned for the third quarter of 2027. If the Arriktos deal is finalized at $90 million, it would mean a nearly $15 million advantage over Seanergy's contract price.
Capital Axis Maritime, which was established earlier this year through a partnership between Capital Executive Ship Management, backed by Evangelos Marinakis, and SPV Axis Maritime led by Nicholas E. Madias, has quickly become one of the key players in the shipping market.
