Veliollah Bayati, the spokesperson for the Internal Affairs Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, announced the questioning of the Minister of Oil regarding the reasons for the cancellation of long-term oil sales contracts between Iran and China. This question follows the cancellation of contracts that were established under the 25-year strategic cooperation program between Iran and China.
Details of the Canceled Contracts
The oil sales contract between the Iranian Oil Trading Company and seven Chinese refineries was signed for a duration of two years, aimed at providing a secure and guaranteed market for the sale of Iranian oil. However, after six months, the Iranian Ministry of Oil canceled these contracts.

Bayati further stated that the Minister of Oil, as the person responsible for the country's oil sales, must answer for the reasons behind the cancellation of this strategic contract, and the purpose of questioning him in Parliament is to clarify this matter. He also emphasized that the cancellation of such contracts could impact the relations and interactions between Iran and China.
Consequences of the Cancellation of Contracts
The spokesperson for the Internal Affairs Commission of the Parliament, referring to the importance of the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and China, especially in the current situation and after the imposed war, acknowledged that issues like these and the preferences of responsible individuals should not disrupt the 25-year strategic cooperation program between Iran and China. He also pointed out that the authority responsible for compensating the damages incurred due to the cancellation of this contract must be identified.
Bayati, expressing his concerns, called for greater transparency in this regard and added: "The Parliament must, as the representative of the people, pursue these issues to prevent problems in the relations between the two countries." These developments occur at a time when Iran and China are seeking to strengthen their cooperation and expand their economic interactions, and the cancellation of oil contracts could be seen as a serious obstacle in this path.
