Port Canaveral announced today the signing of an agreement with GT USA, the operator of the Canaveral loading terminal. This agreement includes the lease of an additional 10 acres of land alongside the existing 20 acres of operations at North Cargo Pier 6 Port Canaveral for a maximum duration of 25 years.

Expansion of Capacity and Infrastructure

This new agreement will take effect immediately and includes improvements by GT USA on the new land. These improvements include 15 storm-resistant warehouses with an approximate area of 170,000 square feet designed for the management, storage, and processing of various cargoes such as wood, steel, and project loads.

Captain John W. Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral, described the agreement as strengthening Port Canaveral's position as a global gateway for trade, stating: "This step helps ensure the stability of the supply chain for essential materials in our growing region." He also added that this partnership has been in place between GT USA and Port Canaveral since 2014.

Impact on Economic Growth and Customer Services

Luke Richards, CEO of GT USA, referred to the confirmation of the company's expansion operations at Port Canaveral as a milestone and thanked the ongoing support from Port Canaveral officials. He said: "The larger space allows us to consider new goods, attract more cargo, and provide better services to customers - which contributes to further growth for GT USA and economic activities at this port."

Today's announcement also indicates the continued diversification of GT USA's loading operations at Port Canaveral, which includes the launch of a new bi-monthly international container service connecting Central Florida to key markets in Mexico and the Northeast United States.

Port Canaveral has handled over 6 million tons of cargo in the fiscal year 2026 and generated $25 million in revenue from its operations, including liquid and dry cargoes, project loads, and petrochemical operations. This port serves as a gateway to global markets in Central Florida with 11 multi-purpose cargo docks, advanced facilities, and efficient services.
