The Port Authority of Seville and Seville's Free Trade Zone will provide a $3.4 million investment for upgrading electrical infrastructure in the Port of Seville area. This project aims to address the additional electricity demand of approximately 20 megawatts on the right side of the Port of Seville, including developments related to the aerospace industry and associated logistics operations.
Project Details
This project focuses on upgrading the Tablada and Torrecuéllar substations. The work will include the installation of a new 66/20 kV transformer with a capacity of 25 megavolt-amperes at Torrecuéllar, upgrading medium voltage equipment, and changing control systems at both substations. Additionally, five additional medium voltage feed lines are planned to expand electrical connections to industrial and logistics areas, including two lines from Tablada and three lines from Torrecuéllar.

Operational Conditions
However, the commissioning of the new infrastructure depends on the completion and electrification of the 220/66 kV substation at the Port of Seville and the associated transmission lines. This new agreement was signed following a separate investment plan announced in July 2025 for the opposite side of the port. In that agreement, the Port Authority committed over 5 million euros ($5.6 million) to the expansion of the Palmas Altas substation, with the work to be carried out by Endesa.
This project is designed to support development on the left side of the port, including the Dársena del Cuarto industrial area and a new area along the urban waterways. The newly announced plan continues to expand the electrical network towards the right side of the port, where the port is striving to attract more industrial and logistics businesses.
