Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, emphasized the importance of cooperation among all agencies in reforming energy consumption patterns during the 109th meeting of the Strategic Committee of the Gas Engineering Association on October 7, and outlined a roadmap for ensuring the country's energy and water security until 1430.

Discussion Topics in the Meeting

In this session, committee members discussed topics such as diversifying the energy supply portfolio, utilizing green hydrogen technology, and enhancing fuel management and consumption patterns. The production and consumption of gasoline and the necessary budget for energy supply were also among the topics raised. Pezeshkian welcomed the proposed plans and discussions, emphasizing the need to convert generalities into a clear and actionable roadmap.

The Necessity of Interaction between Scientific and Academic Institutions

The President also deemed the interaction and synergy of scientific and academic institutions essential for implementing proposed plans. He stipulated that in future meetings, in addition to process owners, academic professors should also be present, and each topic should be pursued as a research project at the doctoral level. Pezeshkian introduced leveraging scientific and local capabilities as a prerequisite for effective actions in reducing energy consumption and emphasized reliance on domestic capacities.

He also stated: "Given the current conditions in energy governance, we must rely on our own domestic capacities. We welcome international programs and frameworks in the field of consumption pattern reform and gas." These statements reflect the country's need to pay attention to domestic capacities while simultaneously using international experiences to improve the energy situation.

Responsibility of All Agencies

Pezeshkian further pointed out the cross-sectoral nature of energy-related issues and noted that all stakeholders and agencies are required to participate in the reform of consumption patterns. He emphasized the need for coordination among different sectors in the field of energy governance, stating: "Given the current conditions of the country, this coordination is a higher priority than ever."

The President also specified that to conduct targeted meetings and present operational plans, processes should be categorized based on the topics raised in the meeting, and the executor of each plan should be identified. This action can help improve efficiency and increase production in the energy sector.
