OBT (African Transport and Logistics Company) responds to the increasing demand for transportation services in Mauritania by establishing a new office in the country. This initiative aims to strengthen OBT's logistics network on the African continent and provide diverse services to local and international customers.

Reasons for Expansion to Mauritania

The expansion of activities in the mining, energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors in Mauritania has prompted OBT to establish a local presence in the country. Youssef Bouricha, OBT's manager in Mauritania, stated: "Mauritania is the next natural step for OBT. Customers are increasingly demanding transparency throughout projects, which allows us to plan earlier and make decisions faster." This expansion reflects customer demand, market opportunities, and Mauritania's strategic position on the northwest coast of Africa.

Services and Capabilities

OBT Mauritania will offer a variety of services including transportation representation, customs clearance, project logistics, heavy operations, warehousing, domestic transportation, and last-mile delivery. This office will serve the two main ports of the country, namely the Port of Nouakchott, which is a gateway to the capital and central and southern regions of Mauritania, and the Port of Nouadhibou, which is important for mining and industrial activities.

OBT has already gained valuable experience by conducting a logistics operation involving 33 containers, including unloading, temporary warehousing, and distribution to over 20 destinations in Mauritania. Additionally, OBT has successfully managed several heavy and project cargo operations in the country, which involve large and heavy equipment requiring specialized lifting, port coordination, and domestic transportation. The OBT team has also supported several ship arrivals at the ports and provided representation and maintenance services for vessels.

With the establishment of OBT Mauritania, the company will continue to connect local execution with its headquarters in Dubai, African offices, and its network of international partners. This collaboration allows customers to have a coordination point in various markets.

This expansion is an important step in OBT's ongoing growth on the African continent and demonstrates the company's commitment to strengthening its presence in key African markets and supporting customers wherever their operations take place. By combining local expertise with the strength of OBT's extensive network, the new office will provide reliable transportation and logistics solutions with effective coordination across the supply chain.
