Navitas Petroleum, an active company in the oil and gas sector, has recently succeeded in acquiring 37.5% of the working interest in Block 1 CBK off the coast of South Africa. This deal was executed after receiving the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities, allowing Navitas Petroleum Africa, a subsidiary of Navitas Petroleum, to operate this block.
Details of the Deal and Its Impacts
This acquisition is part of Navitas 2.0 strategy, which helps develop the company's exploration portfolio in new geographies. Gili Holzman, President and CEO of Eco, stated: "The completion of the transfer of Block 1 CBK is a significant milestone in our strategic framework with Navitas and demonstrates the value of our growing collaboration across multiple jurisdictions." He noted Navitas' extensive experience in developing offshore resources and added that South Africa's growing need for domestic gas provides strong grounds for advancing the development of significant resources in Block 1 CBK.
Future Outlook and Other Projects
Navitas Petroleum is also developing the Sea Lion project in the Falkland Islands, with a final investment decision (FID) for this project expected in December 2025. The company has recently also acquired 65% of the PL001 North Falkland Basin license, indicating the expansion of its portfolio in the South Atlantic region.
These actions demonstrate Navitas' commitment to strengthening and expanding its operations in the oil and gas sector and capitalizing on new opportunities in international markets. Navitas has stated that it will continue to collaborate with Eco Atlantic and OrangeBasin Energies in this block and hopes to make the best use of the existing potentials.
