Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President, reviewed 117 technological projects in the oil and gas industry during a special technology development meeting. These proposed packages were prepared in collaboration with 42 organizations, aiming to enhance the resilience of the oil and gas industry, inter-agency coordination, and support for the private sector.
Goals and Axes
The main axes of these projects include enhancing oil and gas production, completing the value chain of the refining industry, addressing gasoline and diesel imbalance, and increasing energy efficiency in the production, transmission, and distribution chain. The goal of increasing crude oil production by at least 250,000 barrels per day by securing drilling fleets and related equipment was also discussed in this meeting.
Pressure Enhancement in South Pars
In the pressure enhancement section of South Pars, various contracts have been signed for the design and development of downhole turbines and compressors. These projects, which are expected to be operational by the Fajr decade, aim to maintain daily production of over 700 million cubic meters of gas from the South Pars field. Additionally, it is anticipated that these projects will provide $500 billion worth of excess gas production over 40 years.
Flare Gas Management
Another program presented at this meeting is the use of modern technologies for managing flare gases and implementing surface natural gas storage projects. With the implementation of these projects, the annual gas supply will increase by 8 billion cubic meters and will contribute $1 billion to non-oil exports.
Base Oil Production and Increased Efficiency
In line with improving the quality of petroleum products, various projects are underway in the country's refineries to enable the production of Group 3 base oil. Furthermore, energy efficiency projects in the natural gas production chain will allow for an annual saving of 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
Attention to Energy Consumption Management
Aref emphasized the necessity of simultaneous attention to the role of the government and the public in managing energy consumption and called for the preparation of a comprehensive package for energy savings. He stated that increasing efficiency in the oil and gas industry should contribute to increasing national wealth and reducing poverty.
