Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President, emphasized the importance of energy supply for the production sector, stating that cutting off electricity and gas for industries means halting production and causing workers to become unemployed. In a meeting of the Supreme Energy Council, which he chaired, he stressed the need for gas consumption management in various sectors.
Review of Energy Consumption Management Scenarios
In this meeting, proposed scenarios for managing gas consumption in the residential, commercial, public, industrial, agricultural, transportation, and power generation sectors were reviewed for the upcoming cold months of the year. Aref noted that the share of consumption for each of these sectors was approved and emphasized the ongoing efforts to increase gas production capacity and the necessity of energy conservation.
Trends in Reducing Energy Imbalances
Aref further pointed out the existing imbalances in the energy sector, especially gas, stating that the trend of reducing these imbalances has been very positive in recent months. He clarified that the damage to energy infrastructure caused by recent imposed wars has been somewhat compensated through round-the-clock efforts, and he hopes that the remaining sectors will be activated as soon as possible.
The First Vice President also referred to the government's plan for solar energy development and mentioned that the President holds weekly expert-level meetings to achieve the policy of resolving energy imbalances. Aref emphasized that ensuring sustainable energy for the public and industries is a prerequisite for all government managers.
Emphasis on Conservation and Public Cooperation
Aref urged the public to assist the government by conserving electricity and gas so that energy for industries can be supplied and production and employment are not harmed. He also pointed out that if conservation is not practiced, the energy consumption of high-consumption households may be calculated at cost price.
He expressed his concern about gas cuts in various regions of the country and emphasized that this issue can be resolved with public cooperation. Aref concluded by calling for a program to reduce energy consumption in residential and governmental sectors and stressed that all managers should pay attention to ensuring the sustainability of the energy network.
