Kistos has begun planning for the decommissioning of the Q10-A gas field in the North Sea of the Netherlands by signing contracts for drilling and loading. These actions are aimed at ceasing production in this field by the end of 2027.

Contract Details

The company Kistos, listed on the London Stock Exchange, has unveiled two new contracts in its interim results. One of these contracts pertains to drilling, which will be executed to carry out a single-well campaign for the plugging and abandonment of wells in the Q10-A gas field. Additionally, a loading vessel has been contracted for the removal of the Q10-A platform jacket. Information regarding the contractor's name, vessel, or contract value has not been disclosed.

Future Plans and Timeline

Kistos aims to halt production at the Q10-A field by the end of 2027. Well plans are scheduled for operations in 2028, and the removal of remaining infrastructure is expected to take place mainly in 2029. The Q10-A field, located 22 kilometers off the coast of the Netherlands, began production in January 2019 and currently includes six production wells. The gas produced from this field is transported via a 42-kilometer pipeline to the processing facilities located at P15-D, operated by TAQA.

Project Background

The development of the Q10-A field dates back to the awarding of the 2018 EPCI contract to Heerema Fabrication Group for the unmanned Q10-A platform. This project was initially developed by Tulip Oil, which was later acquired by Kistos. The field is recognized as one of the significant energy projects in the North Sea of the Netherlands, and Kistos's actions regarding its decommissioning reflect the company's commitment to meeting environmental requirements and optimizing energy resources in the region.
