In 2025, Iran's oil and gas industry has set unprecedented records in gas production and storage despite sanctions and challenges arising from war. These successes, particularly in increasing raw gas production and restoring facilities damaged by war, demonstrate the high technical and managerial capabilities of this industry.
Increase in Gas Production Under Difficult Conditions
In recent years, Iran's gas industry has significantly increased its production. According to statistics, 51 million cubic meters of raw gas have been added to the country's production daily, and in 2024, the daily production record reached 1,105 million cubic meters, which increased to 1,121 million cubic meters in 2025. This increase in production is not only limited to the development of new fields but also results from precise operational management and maintenance of production capacity.
South Pars; The Main Hub of Gas Production
The South Pars gas field is recognized as one of the main hubs for increasing gas production capacity in Iran. Gas production in this field reached a record 729.6 million cubic meters per day in 2025. Additionally, with the launch of new wells in various phases of this field, gas production capacity has significantly increased. These actions reflect attention to the development of other fields and increasing production in them.
Management of major repairs and infrastructure preparation during the warm months of the year has contributed to the stability of the gas supply network. In the warm season of 2025, over 3.1 billion cubic meters of gas were stored in reservoirs, which has been introduced as the highest recorded storage amount in the country.
Restoration of Damaged Facilities
In 2025, war-related damages led to a significant reduction in gas production, dropping to about 250 million cubic meters. However, development programs and the restoration of damaged facilities to production were completed in less than 20 days. This action demonstrates capabilities and quick decision-making in critical conditions.
Therefore, despite challenges and limitations, Iran's oil and gas industry has managed to improve its performance in production and storage, achieving new records. These achievements clearly indicate the importance of management and planning in this industry, which plays a vital role in the country's energy supply.
