Iran has insisted on its position regarding the Strait of Hormuz and stated that it is not willing to reduce its conditions. The country is seeking to reopen this strait while the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has sent mixed signals about his willingness to reach an agreement.
Iran's Conditions for Reopening the Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated in an interview that Iran is waiting for a clear response from the United States to its demands and has not yet received a response from intermediaries such as Qatar and Pakistan. Araghchi emphasized, "Only a negotiated solution can resolve the deadlock concerning this global energy chokepoint."

Trump also mentioned that Iran's conditions resemble an agreement that the United States might have accepted a year ago, but it now seems that Tehran is in a stronger position than it actually is. He also emphasized that negotiations will resume this week, although he has rejected Iran's proposal.
Increased Economic Pressures on Iran
The U.S. Treasury Secretary, Scott Busent, stated that the U.S. economic pressure campaign on Iran has been effective, and China, Iran's largest oil buyer, has significantly reduced its support for the country. Busent predicted that within the next two weeks, Iran will send its last oil shipment to China and will then have no oil left for sale.
Meanwhile, conflicts in the Middle East, especially in Saudi Arabia, have also intensified. Saudi coalition forces announced that the country's air defense intercepted two drones launched by the Houthis towards Riyadh. These recent attacks are a sign of escalating tensions between Iran-affiliated groups and U.S. allies in the region.
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasized in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that his country will not allow freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz under the conditions of sanctions and the blockade imposed by the United States. He also stated that Iran will not relinquish its right to develop nuclear technology for economic purposes.
