Hasan Montazer Torbati introduced the reform of the gas chain structure as the first step in managing imbalance at a specialized meeting on natural gas consumption management and overcoming the winter of 1405, attended by the Deputy Minister of Oil and several senior managers of the gas industry.

Challenges in the Gas Chain

Montazer Torbati pointed out the existing challenges in the gas chain of the Ministry of Oil, noting that currently, the National Iranian Gas Company does not have full authority in some areas of the chain, which can affect decision-making and integrated management. He added: "In a long-term view, it is necessary for the gas chain to be seen more harmoniously from the beginning of production from the reservoir to refining, transmission, export, and optimization to obtain a more accurate picture of the entire chain."

The Importance of Pricing Policies and Information Dissemination

The former CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company also referred to the issue of pricing as one of the important topics in consumption management, stating: "Pricing policies in the country have always been accompanied by economic and social conditions, and alongside price reform, there should also be planning to engage the public." He suggested that solutions be designed for managing and purchasing excess consumption so that consumers are motivated to reduce consumption and the benefits from this reduction return appropriately to the people.

Montazer Torbati emphasized the necessity of informing the public about the real conditions of gas supply, stating: "Actions taken to secure gas and overcome difficult conditions must be explained to the public at the right time so that society has a clearer understanding of the gas industry's conditions and the necessity of consumption management."

In conclusion, Hasan Montazer Torbati stressed the need for coordination between the electricity and gas sectors during the cold season, saying: "Just as the Ministry of Energy uses planned restrictions to manage the network during peak electricity consumption, there should also be necessary coordination between the two sectors in winter so that in case of shortages, restrictions are applied in a managed manner."

He clarified that some of the actions taken could help reduce past problems in the coming years, but to achieve sustainable results, planning must start now for increasing readiness, managing consumption, and reforming structures.
