Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has named its first dual-fuel ammonia tanker Terra Clove at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries facility in South Korea. This tanker, with a capacity of 93,000 cubic meters, will be delivered in November after completing sea trials.
Technical Details of the Terra Clove Tanker
The Terra Clove tanker is designed as the first commercial dual-fuel ammonia vessel under the Singapore flag, intended to carry ammonia as cargo and use it as propulsion fuel. This 230-meter tanker is equipped with the two-stroke Everllence 6G60ME-LGIA engine, which completed factory acceptance tests in April and received type approval in June.

The tanker features four cargo tanks and ammonia safety and fuel management systems, including leak detection and pollutant emission management equipment. Collaborators on this project have focused on ship design, safety requirements, and regulatory approval with special emphasis on ammonia management, ventilation, emissions, and crew preparedness.
Strategic Collaboration and Expansion in the Ammonia Transport Market
This event coincided with the signing of a strategic collaboration between EPS and the Maersk McKinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping. This development has enhanced EPS's position in the ammonia tanker market. Earlier this year, the shipping company returned to Jiangnan Shipyard in China to construct two more tankers with a capacity of 90,000 cubic meters, scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2028. These tankers will utilize dual-fuel LPG systems instead of engines designed for burning ammonia.
The recent contract was signed following a series of six 93,000 cubic meter tankers that had previously been registered at Jiangnan. EPS continues to build its gas carrier fleet while also investing in new fuel technologies.
