DOF Group, a Norwegian operator and owner of an advanced fleet of vessels in the energy and marine sectors, has recently received a letter of intent under which it has signed a large contract for its submersible vessels. This contract, estimated to be worth between 50 to 100 million dollars, is set to keep one of the company's Class I vessels occupied in the first half of 2028.

Contract and Project Details

Although DOF has not disclosed the name of the company sending the letter of intent or the project for which the Class I vessel will be working, this project includes project management services, engineering, procurement, and logistics support from this company. This scope of work encompasses industry-standard tools for executing complex underwater infrastructures, including subsea cables, riser pipes, and seabed intervention projects.

Awaiting Full Contract Approval

The final approval of the full contract is expected to be announced by mid-November 2026. DOF's Class I fleet includes vessels such as Skandi Implementer, Skandi Installer, Skandi Inventor, and Skandi Involver. These vessels are designed for underwater construction, inspection, maintenance, repair (IMR), and remote-operated vehicle (ROV) services at depths of up to 3000 meters.

As operators proactively commit to multi-million dollar underwater scopes years before project execution, this trend indicates a tighter market where access to advanced assets and integrated engineering teams becomes more competitive. DOF is currently seeking to secure new tasks, which is well evident in its recent engagements for two anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels in the Caribbean (CARICOM) region.
