Colonel Hossein Zolfakhani, the deputy police chief of western Tehran province, announced the discovery of 43,800 liters of smuggled petroleum products in a warehouse located in Manjilabad, Robat Karim. This discovery was made following a report about individuals involved in the transfer of petroleum products and the substitution of diesel with other products.

Details of the Discovery and Arrest of Suspects

Zolfakhani stated that after receiving the reports, the matter was seriously placed on the agenda of the Economic Security Police. He added that the officers identified the location for storing and transferring the smuggled fuel through technical and intelligence investigations. After judicial coordination, the officers, along with representatives from the Government Trading Organization and the prosecutor of Robat Karim, were dispatched to inspect the site.

During the inspection of this warehouse, six tanks and one tanker were discovered, and experts' evaluations indicated that the volume of petroleum products in them reached 43,800 liters. The value of this smuggled cargo is estimated at 150 billion rials.

Consequences and Legal Actions

In this operation, in addition to discovering the smuggled fuel, five suspects were also arrested. Two trucks and one Nissan pickup used for transporting petroleum products were seized. All discovered petroleum products were confiscated in coordination with the Government Trading Organization of Robat Karim, and the suspects were handed over to judicial authorities after the case was filed.

This operation demonstrates the continuous efforts of the Economic Security Police to combat fuel smuggling and protect national resources. Given the extensive dimensions of fuel smuggling in the country, such actions can help reduce this issue.
