Crowley has received a new fast boat named Venture for performing vessel assistance and escort operations at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. This 82-foot boat is designed to effectively carry out vessel assistance and escort duties, thereby enhancing Crowley's ability to serve customers at the southern gateway of California.
Technical Details of the Venture Boat
The Venture boat is equipped with two Caterpillar 3516 engines that meet EPA Tier IV standards, producing over 6000 horsepower. This boat has a towing capacity of up to 95 tons and utilizes a rotating rear propulsion system for better maneuverability. These features allow Venture to safely assist some of the largest vessels in North America. Venture was built by Diversified Marine, Inc. in the Columbia River.
The Vital Role of Fast Boats in Major Ports
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as the busiest container port complex in the United States, require escort boats like Venture to ensure the safe movement of cargo around the clock through the San Pedro Bay gateway. John Ara, Vice President of Marine Services at Crowley, stated: "Venture enhances our capabilities in assisting vessels and escorting in Los Angeles and Long Beach, providing the necessary capacity and performance to facilitate trade in this key corridor."
With the increasing volume of trade in this area, fast boats like Venture are considered key players in the safety and efficiency of port operations. These boats, with advanced maneuvering capabilities and powerful engines, allow Crowley to meet the needs of large vessels and remain committed to safe and efficient port operations.
