The construction of a dedicated route for oil tankers to the Shahrevan oil depot in Tehran is underway with the goal of organizing and increasing safety. The mayor of District 5 in Tehran, Mohammad Reza Pouriafar, announced the plans made to improve the conditions for fuel-carrying vehicles.

Challenges of Fuel-Carrying Vehicle Traffic

Pouriafar discussed past issues regarding the traffic of fuel-carrying vehicles in residential areas and adjacent neighborhoods. He pointed out that the movement of these vehicles in previous years has led to accidents, highlighting the necessity for a dedicated and safe route for their transit. Given the incidents that occurred during the imposed war and other times in this area, there is a greater need for serious attention to safety issues.

An Agreement for Project Implementation

The mayor of District 5 also referred to the collaborations between the judiciary, the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, and the management of oil products distribution in Tehran province, stating: "Planning for a new access route to the oil depot, focusing on enhancing safety and reducing risks, is currently in progress." One of the most important parts of this project is the construction of an overpass to create a dedicated route for the access of oil product-carrying vehicles, which connects to Shahid Bakri Highway, allowing these vehicles to transit without entering alleys and residential areas.

Judicial Follow-ups and Safety

Reza Tabar, the deputy prosecutor of Tehran and head of the District 5 prosecutor's office, also emphasized the importance of this project, stating that the traffic of oil tankers carrying petroleum products, including gasoline and diesel, is one of the critical issues in the region. He noted that since 2023, necessary follow-ups have been initiated through the district municipality and the Tehran distribution and refining company, and an agreement for the implementation of this project has been signed.

The Importance of the Project for Citizen Safety

Fereydoun Yasemi, the manager of oil products distribution in Tehran province, also expressed gratitude for the cooperation between urban management and the judiciary, emphasizing the importance of safety and environmental issues in the project's implementation process. He added: "Coordination between the oil products distribution company and urban management is of special significance in executing this project." With the completion of this project, it is expected that the entry of oil tankers into residential areas will decrease, providing a safer environment for citizens and gardeners.
