The Conference of the Coordination and Leadership Council (Iran Alternative) was held in Tehran with the presence of activists and representatives of various organizations. Shirin Shams, the spokesperson for this network, stated that the main goal of holding this conference was to form a comprehensive alternative for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic.

The Necessity of Forming a Political Alternative

In the first panel of the conference, Sasan Ardakani, a representative of the "Nationwide Network of Women, Life, Freedom" inside Iran, emphasized the need to form a political alternative that includes various forces from parties, activists, and organizations. He said: "We need a comprehensive alternative to come together and approach the minimum common goals we have, and to create an institution or alternative whose aim is the overthrow of the Islamic Republic."

Mahyi, a female student and a victim of the nationwide protests of 2022, also referred to the impact of the Women, Life, Freedom uprising on the developments in Iranian society, stating that in the years following 2022, we have witnessed workers, students, and other segments of society taking to the streets. She emphasized the necessity of solidarity and creating an alternative that represents the diversity of society.

Existing Challenges and the Need for Organization

Furthermore, one activist from the Sistan and Baluchestan province addressed the existing problems and grievances in the region, stating: "The issue of Baluchistan is not just repression. The issue is how to become an effective political force for change." He emphasized the need for organization and the formation of a political alternative that can tell the people what kind of government will be established after the Islamic Republic.

Vartan, a representative of the Revolutionary Students' Organization from Bushehr, also stressed the necessity of forming a comprehensive alternative that works towards the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and the establishment of a democratic government. He pointed to the economic and social problems that have affected people's lives and called for the creation of an organized network to facilitate political developments.

Maryam from Fars province emphasized the need to eliminate discrimination against women and address the issues of the LGBTQ+ community, stating that the revolution in Iran will be realized when the demands of workers and the lower classes of society are also pursued.

This conference demonstrates the need for unity and organization among political and social activists in Iran. Given the existing differences and diversity in society, forming a comprehensive and diverse alternative to meet various needs seems essential.
