The CEO of the National Gas Company of Iran, Saeed Tavakoli, announced that in order to reduce gas consumption, 109 energy efficiency contracts have been signed with various companies. He pointed to the impact of these contracts on gas savings in the country and estimated that the total savings resulting from these contracts would exceed one billion cubic meters by the end of the year.

Details of the Contracts and Savings Capacities

Tavakoli explained that these contracts have been signed in five different sectors including agriculture, industry, power plants, the public sector, and households. In total, 2,365,250 subscribers will participate in these contracts, which include bakeries, restaurants, and industrial units. This initiative follows the identification of buildings with consumption above the standard and conducting energy audits to reform consumption patterns.

Challenges and Available Solutions

The CEO of the National Gas Company of Iran pointed to a mismatch of 200 to 250 million cubic meters during peak gas consumption in winter, noting a shortage of 130 million cubic meters in this season. Tavakoli emphasized that the legal capacities of the seventh program and Article 46 are one of the solutions to compensate for this mismatch. He also mentioned the increase in gas consumption due to temperature drops in the cold season, stating that for every degree decrease in temperature, about 25 million cubic meters are added to the country's gas consumption.

Tavakoli also referred to the capacities of knowledge-based companies in optimizing energy consumption, stating that these companies can significantly reduce energy consumption by designing new equipment. For example, one of these devices in industrial bakeries can reduce energy consumption by 50 to 70 percent.

Finally, Tavakoli emphasized the importance of the household sector in implementing savings plans, stating that using high-efficiency heating systems can help reduce gas consumption in this sector.
