Mohammad Alahdad, CEO of Tavanir, stated at a press conference marking the end of the peak load period in summer 2026 that the peak shortage and electricity imbalance during the peak consumption period in summer decreased from 20,000 megawatts to about 10,000 megawatts, and the electricity industry was able to maintain network stability despite this year's challenging conditions.

Impact of Special Conditions on Electricity Imbalance

Alahdad noted that the electricity industry faced special conditions this summer, including damage to network infrastructure and limitations due to wartime conditions, adding: "Electricity industry colleagues immediately took action to restore and prepare the network for the hot season after the damages occurred, and alongside technical measures, public cooperation played a crucial role in overcoming the peak consumption period."

Reduction of Limitations and Increased Energy Supply

The CEO of Tavanir pointed out the reduction in the limitations imposed on subscribers, stating: "The number of instances of power cuts and restorations, which was about 850,000 last year, has decreased by 54% to about 389,000 this year. Additionally, more energy was made available to industries, and the limitations on industrial parks were reduced from two days a week to one day at one point."

He also announced an increase in energy supply for petrochemical industries, saying: "The amount of energy delivered to petrochemical industries has significantly increased compared to the past."

Development and Optimization of Electricity Networks

Alahdad discussed the development of smart meters, stating: "The number of installed smart meters has reached 7.5 million units, reflecting a 25% growth compared to the same period last year. Tavanir's plan is to install 12 million smart meters by the end of the year, but wartime conditions may delay the implementation of this plan."

He also mentioned the developmental projects in the electricity industry, stating: "In the area of optimizing transmission and distribution networks, several critical projects have been defined, and infrastructure development has continued despite existing limitations."

Consumption Management and Readiness for the Cold Season

In conclusion, Alahdad emphasized the role of consumption management, stating: "Public cooperation is essential to overcome the challenges of winter, and the continued collaboration of subscribers and consumption management can play a significant role in ensuring sustainable energy supply during the cold season."
