The Omani Ministry of Defense announced that the country's Air Force conducted an emergency operation to rescue 10 injured sailors from the oil tanker On Peace. Released footage shows that the helicopter was able to land on the large deck of the tanker, allowing medical personnel to evacuate the injured without the need for a lift. At least two of the injured were transported to the hospital on stretchers.
Consequences and Impact on Maritime Transport
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated in a statement that targeting commercial vessels, sailors, and civilian infrastructure in the region must cease, and navigation and trade in international waters should resume as soon as possible. This incident clearly indicates the rising tensions in the region and its negative impacts on maritime security.
In recent days, reports of other attacks on ships have also emerged, including the vessels Maran Gas Mystras, Gas Vela, Cameroon Prosperity, and Ghana Prosperity. The Live-AIS tracking website has released videos of a fire on the Cameroon Prosperity ship following the attack. This situation has added to existing concerns about maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and poses serious consequences for global trade.
