The Kuwaiti oil tanker Kazimah III was targeted in an attack as the second tanker from this country within four days. This incident occurred on Thursday while the tanker was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a fire on board the ship. Fortunately, all crew members were safe, and the extent of the damage and environmental impacts from this attack are still unclear.
Details of the Attack on Kazimah III
The Kazimah III tanker, measuring 333 meters in length and with a capacity of 317,250 tons, belongs to the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company. This attack occurred just four days after the attack on another tanker from this company named Al Funtas on September 28, which also resulted in a fire. In that incident, the ship was able to continue its journey, and no pollution was reported.

Other Attacks and Security Impacts
The day after the attack on Kazimah III, three other oil tankers were also targeted. Maritime security sources identified these tankers as belonging to ADNOC, Mersin Prosperity, Sinbad, and Al Ruwais. These tankers had turned off their AIS devices while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
On the shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, an unknown project also struck the port of Yanbu on Thursday, leading to a fire and a temporary halt in loading operations. This incident followed a report from the captain of a Liberian-flagged tanker, and loading with this tanker was temporarily suspended but later resumed.
Currently, there is no public confirmation from Saudi Aramco or Saudi port authorities regarding the nature of the project or attributing this incident to any specific party. The port of Yanbu has recently resumed oil export activities after drone attacks that halted operations of the East-West pipeline in Saudi Arabia.
Recent attacks come as crude oil flow from the Strait of Hormuz is recovering. Kpler data indicates that crude oil flow from Hormuz increased to about 9.72 million barrels per day in September, while Saudi exports reached about 5.4 million barrels per day.
