Aker Solutions, through its consulting division called Entr, has signed a contract with Net Zero Atlantic to conduct studies related to energy transmission pathways and offshore wind technologies in Canada under the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Energy Readiness program.

Collaboration with C-CORE to Assess Transmission Options

This project, conducted in collaboration with C-CORE, a leader in risk-based consulting in harsh marine environments, will examine and evaluate options for energy transmission pathways and technology configurations for future offshore wind energy developments. The goal of this study is to assist in the development of wind energy in Nova Scotia and assess potential opportunities for electricity exports to markets in Canada and the United States.

Entering the Emerging Wind Energy Market in Canada

The signing of this contract marks Aker Solutions' entry into the emerging offshore wind energy market in Canada. The company will conduct this study led from its office in St. John's, with support from teams in Oslo. The project is expected to be completed by January 2027, and its results will be publicly released.

Steven Penton, manager of Entr at Aker Solutions, stated: "This contract is an exciting entry point for Entr into the Canadian offshore wind energy market. By collaborating with C-CORE, we will combine local knowledge with global expertise in wind energy and transmission to find solutions that can aid the future development of wind energy in Nova Scotia and facilitate the assessment of clean energy export opportunities."
