Denmark decided to accelerate military aid to Ukraine following an unfortunate incident in which a Russian warship fired a flare at a Danish military helicopter. This action is a response to threats and pressures from Russia, aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defensive capabilities against Russian aggression.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred when the Danish helicopter was attempting to photograph the Russian warship in international waters. According to Danish officials, the warship "Admiral Senn" fired a flare at the helicopter without any prior warning, which miraculously passed by it. This action followed Russian accusations of dangerous maneuvers by Denmark.

New Aid Package to Ukraine

The Danish government announced that the new military aid package to Ukraine is valued at approximately 1.8 billion Danish crowns (equivalent to 276 million dollars). This package will include new equipment and weapons to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. Danish Defense Minister, Jeppe Bruus, stated that if the Russians think they can pressure Denmark, our response will be to accelerate support for Ukraine.

Since the onset of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022, Denmark has become one of the main supporters of the country and is relatively one of the largest financial aid providers in the world.

Statements from Danish Officials

Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, also emphasized that no one can convince them to reduce support for Ukraine, and Denmark will continue its support. This assistance reflects Denmark's strong commitment to stability and security in the region.

In this sensitive situation, Denmark aims to help defend the principles of democracy and national sovereignty by strengthening Ukraine's military capabilities. This action is also seen as a strong message to Russia that not only Denmark but also other NATO countries are united in supporting Ukraine.
